Olalla Center is offering Spanish classes for adult learners who already speak and understand Spanish, but who come from regions where Spanish is not the first language.

Classes will be free to learners and delivered via Zoom twice weekly.

Classes will be free to learners and delivered via Zoom twice weekly. These classes will strengthen participants' Spanish literacy through a focus on reading and writing texts relevant to their lives and their need to communicate through this second language.  Vocabulary and grammar concepts will be developed within each topic and participants will be provided feedback on progress towards course objectives.  As participants, they will have the opportunity to identify topics that are valuable to them and that they would like included in the course. These language skills will increase the learner's ability to self advocate in situations such as, at work, with their children's schools, in a medical setting , when applying for housing, and in the community at large. Being multilingual is a gift and the value of one language will not be seen as greater than the other.  Participants will be encouraged to see Spanish as a bridge to other people, places, opportunities and languages including English.
